I’ve been a reader for my entire life. Books have always been my escape and my refuge. They’ve changed my life in irrevocable ways and continue to challenge my perspectives daily. I’ve always known that one day I’d write a book on my experience with life and chronic illness. Chronic illness decimated my life, leaving me mostly bedridden and housebound for a period of 3.5 years. I literally had to build myself back up from the ground (or bed lol) up, little by little. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’ve always been passionate about sharing those lessons with others to help them cope on their own journeys.
I always thought I’d write a memoir, but the timing never felt fully right. I couldn’t picture the story I wanted to tell, so I set the idea aside. I didn’t think I had what it took to write a fantasy book, so I set that idea aside as well. Until one day, I thought… why not me? What’s stopping me from trying? There’s nothing to lose and a hell of a lot to gain. If the stories I write help one person, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do.
That being said, I’ve never written a novel before. My degree is in physical therapy. All of this is new to me, and I’m learning more each day. This is my journey from work in progress to completed manuscript!
